I am a registered Occupational Therapist having graduated with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Manitoba in 2009. I am certified by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). I am registered and in good standing to practice through the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). I also completed a Bachelor of Arts, 4-year Honours Degree in Psychology at Brandon University in 2006. Throughout my undergraduate training, I have completed clinical internships in Neurological Rehabilitation, Inpatient Family Medicine, Long Term Care and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Manitoba.
I have a strong interest in medical rehabilitation research. I spent one year working as a Research Coordinator at the University of Manitoba. I have presented in research conferences including the 2006 Undergraduate Psychology Conference in Winnipeg and the 2010 Seating and Mobility Conference in Toronto.
I spent two years working in a public healthcare setting where I gained skills and experience in areas including: Discharge Planning, Inpatient Geriatric Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation, Home Assessments, Needs Assessments, Seating Assessments, Cognitive Assessments, Ergonomic Assessments, Job Demands Analyses and facilitating Back Care and Injury Prevention workshops.
I have also completed the Functional Capacity Evaluation course through Roy Matheson and Associates and I am currently in the process of acquiring certification as a Work/Functional Capacity Evaluator.
